Communications

It is the mission for the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Lighthorse Tribal Police Department Communications Division to safeguard the lives and property of the people we serve, to reduce the incidence of fear and crime, and to enhance public safety while working with the communities within the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Reservation to improve their quality of life. Our mandate is to do so with honor and integrity, while at all times conducting ourselves with the highest ethical standards to maintain public confidence. In carrying out our mission, we recognize that service is our one and only product and we share a common, ongoing goal to provide it at the most superior and professional level possible. We also recognize that our strength and success is tied directly to the individual and unique contributions of each of us working in a spirit of cooperation and teamwork with our public safety associates both within and outside the center.

Duties and Responsibilites

The Communications Division serves as a central hub of the Lighthorse Police Department. It provides radio, telephone, and teletype services to all of the counties and cities within the Muscogee (Creek) Nation Reservation. The Communications Division also works with other police jurisdictions within and outside the reservation on a 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week basis.

The Communications Division is responsible for, but not limited to:

• Receiving incoming telephone and radio requests for emergency and non-emergency service
• Taking critical information by phone and radio for the public and field personnel
• Prioritizing requests for emergencies
• Dispatching calls for services, while maintaining constant awareness of field personnel

Training Program

We believe in equipping our communications officers with knowledge and abilities to become a vital first link in emergencies. We provide our trainees with 16-weeks of phase training. Continuous training thereafter is provided as refreshment and as a new techniques become available in the field of dispatching.
